In February of 2024 I ended up purchasing a Talaria Sting R (MX4) from Luna Cycles in Los Angeles, CA. It’s an electric cycle. I ended up buying it because while I really missed having a motorcycle with me, I didn’t have a way to bring it with me since I had an SUV and the airstream trailer couldn’t support that much weight off the back. Cue the Talaria Sting R. It’s only 145 lbs, WITH the battery, and I can fit it in the back of the Sequoia without it spilling oil or gas everywhere.

Characteristics
Most questions people ask:
- How fast can it go?
- 55 mph. Stock it is limited to 30mph, but you can delimit this.
- How far can it go?
- This varies drastically based on how you use it. I’ve been able to get it to 35 miles on one charge.
- How long does it take to recharge?
- Roughly 5 hours from 0% to 100%, with the last bit taking the longest.
- How much was it?
- About $5,000 USD
- How much does it weigh?
- About 145 lbs with the battery, and the battery is 30-something pounds.
- Is it road legal?
- Currently in the US (where I am) by default, no. However, there are ways to make it legal depending on state. I have mine registered in California as a moped with a moped plate. I’ve heard of folks getting them registered as fully road-legal motorcycles.
