Dawson City, Yukon, Canada –
I rolled into Dawson City on June 16th. What an interesting little town! For some reason my expectations were that it would be very rural / remote, and quirky. While it was definitely that, I didn’t expect it to be so touristy. Surprisingly, we’d have huge coach buses just roll into town.

This was an odd point of time for me. I’ve had surprisingly little internet due to my american phone plan in Canada. I had a feeling of being surrounded by people yet feeling alone. I was definitely in a funk and so I did very little touristy things. There were so many!
Midnight Dome – did this. Gorgeous. By far the best view around.

Gerty’s Casino and Can Can show – Did not.
The Pit – did this but later on at night was way too crowded. Marshall and Bob yall were gems though. Did NOT do a sourtoe shot or a pit dog.

Triple J hotel – Oh god, found myself here a lot. Kevin and the kitchen crew yall were awesome to just let the stranger roll in and be with yall. Hope that keg of Yukon finally kicked on one of yall though!
Paddlewheel graveyard – I did not, sadly. This was one I wanted to do. Rachel, why didn’t we do this??
Peggy’s – My last day I did this bar. Nothing special and I got too late for the live music. But with there only being a handful of bars that are open late in town this one makes the list.
Walking tour around town – nope. Wish I did.
Dredge No. 4 – Nope.
I did do some mountain biking on some surprisingly good trails! But wow, that slog to the top of Midnight Dome is a brutal 6-ish miles. Hammarstrand though is a great trail though. Pushed myself a bit and should have brought my full protective gear so I could send it harder!

Also a shoutout to the Filipino-Canadia crowd, yall were so welcoming to your gathering as I wandered by on your 126 year celebration of independence from Spain!

Fellow traveler Kim, you’re amazing for welcoming me in to use your shower and laundry. You know what we’re always needing haha.
