Eugene, OR –
California Redwoods
Continuing the journey we stopped at a few rest areas, dumped our tanks, saw northern California redwoods via US-101 and Avenue of the Giants (breathtaking, really). The journey has been a long way up the west coast so far but so worth it. We also saw Randy and Becky from Bashford’s again for an overnight at their place in Bandon, OR. Steph even convinced Randy to weld up their Mototote carrier so it wouldn’t wobble side to side. It was nice seeing them again and catching up. Also quite possibly one of the best Salmon dishes I’ve ever had from Randy’s wife, Becky. Baked Salmon with bits of Dungeness crab on it…. All caught by them. Yum.

Made it to Eugene, Oregon
Arriving in Eugene was great. It was wonderful seeing Stephen, Jenny, and the new addition to the family Ewan. Silvie fit perfectly in their little side bit of the driveway. Unfortunately it did decide to rain for essentially the entire week we were here except for the first day or two.

It was a bit odd being parked separate from Steph after basically staying next to each other for months but it was only 25 minutes by car. Probably good preparation mid-May since we’d be officially going our separate ways then.
Airheads
I’d been eye-balling some motorcycles for quite a while and one I wanted popped up in downtown Eugene. Uh oh. I’m now the proud owner of a 1978 BMW R100/7. I love everything about it. Except the tall seating position and heavy throttle. It did take a bit of love also. 15 year old tires. Me changing all the fluids and stripping out a hole for a drain plug. First time using a helicoil! Getting to know the local airhead guru while looking for special service tools. The usual. It’ll end up living in Stephen’s garage, THANK YOU STEPHEN!!!, where he’ll store it and ride it occasionally for me until I come back from Alaska and switch from the Sequoia as my tow vehicle to a proper truck with a truck bed.
